Lei explores disease modeling and CRISPR/gRNA genome editing efficiency with patient-derived iPSC and its derivatives. She has more than 10 years of experience in iPSC biology, gene therapy and cell therapy.
Prior to joining Life Edit, Lei was a Sr. Scientist at WuXi Cell Therapy PD team, where she optimized iPSC, CAR-T and TIL platform, single cell cloning for AAV production and data management. Before that, she was Sr. Research Investigator in the Gene Therapy Program at the University of Pennsylvania, where she established the iPSC Resource Center to provide iPSC and its derivatives for disease modeling and AAV screening. She did her postdoc at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), in the Stem Cell Research Lab of the Center of Cellular and Molecular Therapy (CCMT), where she studied the biology of iPSCs and explored innovative cell therapy with stem cell derived cells.
Lei has a Master of Science, MD and PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Shanghai the 2nd Medical University (Medical School of Jiaotong University) in China.
