Clayton is focused on evaluating Life Edit’s genome editing technology in relevant in vitro systems for therapeutic development. He has extensive experience leading discovery phase programs in gene therapy and genome editing.
Prior to Life Edit, Clayton spent two years developing AAV-based gene therapy strategies at an early-stage biotech company. He was also an Assistant Professor of Biology at the University of Mount Olive before transitioning to industry.
Clayton received a BS in Microbiology from the University of Georgia, a MS in Biology from Georgia College and State University, and a PhD in Microbiology from North Carolina State University. He completed his postdoctoral training in genetics at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
