Jon works in the protein engineering group that develops RNA-guided nucleases and base editors.

Prior to joining Life Edit Therapeutics he worked at biotech Zymtronix, where he led their protein engineering efforts. He received his PhD in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Jon completed a dual appointment post-doc with Professor Michael Jewett at Northwestern and Professor Martin Burke at the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign, during which he helped develop a machine learning-guided cell-free protein engineering platform.

In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing, live music and watching the Carolina Hurricanes NHL team.
