Shahin works as a lead scientist in the gene editing group at Life Edit Therapeutics exploring cutting edge genetic editing tools for the development of new treatment modalities in a variety of human diseases.
Shahin is a physician-scientist with over 20 years of experience in basic research as well as translational and clinical research in liver disease. Shahin’s other areas of expertise include non-viral gene therapy, nanomedicine-based gene delivery, tissue engineering (liver organoid), and cancer biology.
Shahin received his M.D. from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, an MPhil in virology from Karolinska Institute, Sweden and a PhD in molecular biology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
